It’s 2:00 AM and few minutes and I’m about to sleep. Before I sleep I tried checking my blog and user group website and shijaz blog. It’s all working now. I don’t know what was the reason and didn’t expect that our website will be resumed. Well it according to me it was a total downtime or blocking time for 4 hours. Thanks it’s back online now.

I don’t know why I can’t access my blog and my user group website from the UAE local ISP i.e. ETISALAT while at the same time I can access from outside the ETISALAT. I’ve asked my relatives outside other countries and they can access my user group website and my blog. SO WHAT IS WRONG? IS JUST BECAUSE OFMY LAST NIGHT POST?
These website are blocked since 9:30 PM onwards today and it is 11:20 PM now. I don’t how long will take ………………………………….. ?
Accessing from UAE, www.techiesonly.com you will see this screen

Network Error
Outside from UAE you at the same time you can see this http://www.techiesonly.com

Same thing is with my blog http://adnanrafik.com/blog
Within UAE

Accessing outside UAE ISP

So why these 2 websites are blocked in the whole UAE. There is nothing against political or any religion. It doesn’t make any sense. Are you reading Etisalat ? I’m sure you can see this post. So do fix it please.

It is 1:10 AM and I got a IM from Shijaz and he told me to check his Blog, I found he wrote about vulnerability in the Youtube? So I tried the same and making sure whether it is a YOUTUBE problem or problem at our ISP (Etisalat). I’m not sure where the problem exists actually but as a end-user I’m facing some problem. I signed-in with my login id and then what I see is that I can see other people’s Id and their mailbox too. Have look below on the screen shots …. Whom to blame? Are you listening Google / Youtube?
See another ID here
See the mailbox here
So if you are one of the victims here then don’t blame me and better complain to Google or Youtube.

Just a while ago I got the chance to see Microsoft Gulf website and got shocked that one of the Dubai based company is offering FREE WINDOWS VISTA installation. Yes it is true but it is for home users only. “What does it mean?”. I think Microsoft wants to push Windows Vista to the local market as people are yet to afraid using the product or the product is doing a good business or it could be anything? I know majority of the people still using Windows XP Pro and Home Edition instead upgrading to the Windows Vista. Well if you buy a brand new laptop then it comes with pre-installed Windows Vista Home Edition so why do I need a free installation?
Does my old PC support the Windows Vista?
The offer doesn’t feel bad but it doesn’t make sense to me because again if I’m gonna buy a new PC it comes with pre-installed Windows Vista. So for what reason should I go for the Free Vista installation?
Is The Support After The Installation Also Free? L

Lately I’ve been through the blog of Maria Greens and found something interesting i.e. Microsoft Communities Heroes.
There are 12 Heroes nominated under this category who live their lives on Microsoft technologies, amazing J . I met Maria last year at TECHED ED SEA 2007 KL and took her interview, you will see her how friendly is she and how passionate is she. She is helping out the IT community in the whole SEA and now another good stuff. Kool stuff Maria, see you soon in the Tech Ed 208.

Here I’d like share with you how what’s new in the business contact in BCM2007. Below you will see a typical business contact in BCM 2007 in this case which is my own contact.
Now if you take a closer look in the communicate option of the BCM 2007 below
Here you can see the New History Item which is not available in the typical contact. Here it gives you the feature where you can add Business Notes, Phone Log, Opportunities, and Business Project etc. Thus there are different ways to follow up with this contact, see new opportunities related to etc. So I must say that BCM is a very good product specially if are a marketing or sales person or a small business owner or anyone who wants to keep the track of many thing all in one, then BCM 2007 can really help you.

Finally I’ve done with my very first email using BCM 2007, although it was tricky but I could manage to do in a while. When I was done with the marketing campaign I realized that there were no recipients in the campaign J . after looking into more details I found that there were no contact / recipients in the BCM 2007 (as other contact are in the default location). So I created a new one for myself and there you go.

If you are looking for contact management then I’d go for MS Business Contact Manager, which offers powerful customer and contact management solution which integrates with MS Office Outlook 2007. If you have Outlook 2003 then try BCM200 with it (of course from your previous CDs). This is amazing product to improve your sales and marketing and deliver better customer services. I’m using it myself and new to the product too but it is really something I was looking for. I’ve have everything with me all the time on my notebook and it helps me a lot. I’ve come across a problem after finishing the installation that BCM2007 was not able to connect to the database, if you come across the same thing then make sure that your SQL services must be running or better check with your IT support.

Yes SharePointConferenceDubai is over now; if you have missed it then you missed something you never thought. A wonderful conference ever happen in Dubai (since 2003 I’m here attending). I don’t know where to start and right now it is 11:06 p.m. Wednesday evening and tired too. It was not 2 days for me but also 2 nights and met many new good people, hanged out in the night while heavy doze sessions in the morning was really an un-matched experience. If you were the victim of your boss who didn’t allow you to attend the conference then they made a mistake and I pity on you. Sorry guys.
The event was jammed packed even though it was paid and both days it was amazing experience, very good topics and quality of the sessions was good (what I’ve attended). The feedback from the end-users was good too (yes I interacted with few attendees). I never expected myself this many people to attend the SharePointConferenceDubai. A couple of weeks we internally (can’t mention here who and where internally) were discussing about the lack of support for SharePoint in the region but this event changed the picture and it is very promising to have good support of SharePoint in the future. I don’t want to go into the details of the topics or content but if you are interested visit the url mentioned above or this one http://www.sharepointconferencedubai.com/Pages/default.aspx
I also got the chance to meet Joel Oleson who is the guru of SharePoint and worked for a senior position in Microsoft USA. His session was kool and he had most of the answer throughout the days. It was difficult to catch him but we caught him and had good time with this guy. I met one more guy MVP SharePoint Todd Klindt , I’ve been calling him all the time Captain because he speaks like a commander J . I also met other guys from different companies and we had good time together. The first day session was close at 1700 hours and then we had dinner from 1930 till 2200. This was about networking , so very few people utilized this networking time and most of the people kept seated instead making the use of this opportunity provided by Microsoft. After a very long time I got the chance to see the very business woman Saba Corm, she was very enthusiastic as I saw her last time in a Office roadshow last year. I met a new face from Microsoft MEA Patrick Beeharry, very good and knowledgeable person but he is related to marketing so don’t expect too much technical but he has very background. I liked his presentation too. I also got the chance to meet the people from HP and they have come up with the Information Management solution and a specialized solution for SharePoint too. I got the chance to meet the AMD representative Dr. Ulrich Knechtel and I spoke to him for almost 30 minutes and I got most of the answers form him about the AMD technology and why it is better for SharePoint, he is master in his area.
Well other than this I met the SharePoint Jordanian User group members, MVP Mohamed Saleh, Mohannad and MVP Bander. I also met the guys from Avepoint (T.J and Atif) and a Dutch guy Alex. T.J thanks for the drinks and the dinner J and Mohannad for the juices too J. You will find most of the pictures and event highlights on these urls. I wanted to have the pictures myself too but my camera was discharged unexpectedly L but anyways these guys have done the job so it’s ok.
Before I end the post here I must thank you to Tarek Mandou, without your help I couldn’t make the use of this opportunity. Thanks again. I’d recommend to have more sessions like this in the future specially on the Exchange Server 2007.
Cheers J
